As a piece of underclothing, and a mandatory beachwear especially in sun-kissed places like Florida, Hawaii and the Carolina states where they are as ubiquitous as the almost-naked bodies that wear them, bikinis have become scantier, more daring, and needless to say, more sexier than the styles and cuts of previous years. And if it cannot get any skimpier, enter the string bikini, the tiniest version of the bikini which consists of mere swatches of textile (four triangles, to be exact, two each for the top and bottom garments), held together on their ends and are tied together to secure them on the delicate parts of the body. Obviously, string bikinis owe its name to its stringed trappings that replaces the conventional garter belt in the case of panties, and the elastic band in the case of a woman’s bra. A Brazilian fashion model named Rose de Primallio was credited for “inventing” this ultra comfortable piece of undergarment around the late 60s to early 70s. By that time, the skimpy bikini is yet to conquer a wider territory as acceptable public beachwear. Clothing retailers who saw a goldmine in commercializing bikini fashion for the growing number of beach bums sought to formally introduce the bikini as a modern and trendy beach fashion through magazine launch, cover shoots and the fashion ramps. The story was that the ingenious Ms. Rose had a photo shoot and needed to wear a bikini. It could be that the one set given to her was lost in transit, simply forgotten or coveted by an underwear fetish fiend. In short, the model had to sew one for herself from an insufficient scarp of fabric given to her. The result was the rebirth of the traditional bikini – two triangular fabric pieces connected to the groin, but not on the sides. Instead, there was an attached string (more realistically, a rope-sized piece of the fabric; string would be too prone to accidental exposure) on the left and right edges to lock the back sides to the front sides. For the bikini top, the same stringed design was incorporated, making a perfect set of what was to become the first crude pair of string bikinis. The string bikini was first formally presented to the public during the opening of a shopping center called Le Petite Centre in a French-dominated district in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA in 1974. The name of the newly inaugurated retail haven was very apt for the petite “hot number” that was unveiled in its honor. This brave attempt to introduce the string bikini to a larger audience was credited to the husband-and-wife team of Glen Tororich and Brandi Peret-Dujon. Glen was a public relations agent while Brandi is a supermodel. The two took a cue from a photograph of a fashion model from Rio de Janeiro laid out on the pages of the popular ladies wardrobe companion, Women’s Wear Daily. Glen and Brandi commissioned a local fashion designer named Lapin to create a special string bikini for the opening of the shopping center. To create a more dramatic entrance, the models wore their string bikinis under fur coats. When the coats were discarded, press photographers had a grand time taking pictures of the new fashion underwear and beach wear, to the excitement of the audience. The event was covered by television stations and photos were published by wire agencies. After this, there was no stopping the string bikini from conquering not just the wardrobes of ladies everywhere, but also the beaches all over the world. Advertising and Marketing Staff

For many designer swimsuit companies, there is now a panic. A new style of bikini has come from seemingly nowhere to cause a fashion stir if not an all out fashion craze. It started with a few scantily clad celebrities, such as when Kirsten Dunst, Jessica Alba and even Lindsay Lohan wore the ruffle bikini and it kept growing organically from there. But, perhaps the biggest star to bring it to the forefront is Jennifer Aniston. No matter whom you credit with starting this new trend, the ruffle bikini, sometimes referred to in the past tense, or ruffled bikini, has created quite the stir on this season’s designer swimwear. And swimsuits from Brazil are no exception. Besides celebrities, who wears this suit? Well, that depends on who you ask. I have seen women of all ages don the ruffle bikini in Las Vegas, where fashion by the pool is taken very seriously. But, it does not stop there. You can also find it on the beaches of Southern California and South Florida. A rock solid body may be preferred, but it is not essential. Why the panic? Because not all swimsuit companies are created equal. That’s the most simple answer. Perhaps a better answer, some have deeper pockets and better machinery than others. Still, it’s just a swimsuit, right? It is very light, such as any other bikini. It includes a simple single liner, not uncommon to most bikinis out there. Also, the fabric is not made of some new or special material. It’s simple Italian Lycra or Spandex. So, what makes this suit so difficult for manufacturers to produce? Well, this particular bikini has a laser finish and most small companies overseas cannot produce this new style. As with anything there is supply and demand, so those who can produce a ruffle bikini often have to outsource this technology. Anytime a suit has to leave one factory and enter another before you see it causes the suit to become more expensive from a wholesale perspective—which of course is passed along to you, the consumer. Finally, where can you find this suit and how much does it cost? I would say the best answer to that is to simply type ruffle bikini or ruffled bikinis into your favorite search engine and follow the results. This will give you the best variety when shopping for a ruffle swimsuit, and I’ve even found it for as low as $79.00. Otherwise, you can go down to your local surf shop and ask for the ruffle bikini and have them lead you to the expensive side of the store and take a small fortune from you, usually around $165.00. As a parting note, I would not worry about name brand and here is why. If the machinery costs so much that most companies cannot even produce a ruffle bikini, then it is likely that the quality will be very similar from brand name to brand name. So, this is one time when the name on the suit will not equal extra quality, nor will paying more for it. A simple check with your online store’s return policy will ensure you are getting quality. Women all over the world worry about their pregnant bikini bodies when faced with having to wear swimsuits during vacation times. During other times in the year, pregnant women can cover their bodies with cute maternity outfits. However, bathing suit season calls for showing bare skin- pregnant belly and all. However, there are some simple rules to think about when purchasing a bikini for the pregnant body. 1. Since the breasts are usually swollen during pregnancy, one may have to buy a larger bikini top to accommodate growing breasts. 2. Think about purchasing a bikini top with extra support built in to support the enlarged breasts. 3. The bikini bottom should not be too tight in case it restricts the belly area. Pregnant women must still be able to breathe when wearing a bikini. 4. The pregnant bikini bottom may need to have extra fabric or some other stretchy fabric built in to accommodate the expanding belly. 5. Pregnant women may want to avoid bikinis that tie together. Consider purchasing swimsuits with snaps so the bathing suit will stay on regardless of the water activity taking place. Finding Bikinis for Pregnant Women Many pregnant women have more success at finding bikinis at specialty shops that specialize in maternity clothing and swimsuits. These specialty shops often have more choices available for pregnant women looking for bathing suits. This will give the pregnant woman more options in terms of types of fabric, colors, prints, styles, and designs. Mix and Match Bikinis Many bathing suits are coming in mix and match choices so that today’s woman can choose different sizes in the top and bottom of the bikini set. Women no longer have to buy swimsuits in one size to accommodate their different sized top and bottom halves. This gives pregnant women more choices because pregnant women often wear two different sizes- one on the top and one on the bottom. Pregnant women can find a top in the correct size and then match a bottom in another size to hold the expanding belly. Shopping Online Women seeking the perfect pregnant bikini should also try searching the Internet for suitable bikinis. There are many fashion websites catering to the pregnant woman’s body. Some of these websites even allow women to create a virtual model of themselves online so they can virtually try on bathing suits to see the fit. Most of these sites also have wonderful return or exchange policies just in case the bathing suit doesn’t work. Women can exchange or return the bathing suits until the perfect one is found. Pregnant women have many options when it comes to purchasing bikinis for their body types. Following the simple rules in this article will help ensure the perfect fit for any pregnant woman. Mixing and matching sizes, searching in special maternity stores, or shopping online can help women find the perfect bikini for the pregnant woman. Read About Buy Lingerie

Of late, the already tiny micro bikinis have actually been getting smaller in the bikini’s continuous journey of shrinkage. The trend actually began with the top piece, but after shrinking the top so much that it barely covers the nipples, bikini manufacturers have now moved on to reducing the size of the bottom piece. So you get the following styles: slingshot bikini, mini bikini, teardrop bikini, mini-mini bikini, micro bikini, thong bikini, sexy bikini and, what could be called a ‘double thong G-string bikini’ – the mini micro bikinis Mini Micro Bikinis Basically, these are what you might call ‘extreme bathing suits’ designed to cover only the minimum parts of your body. Supposedly patterned along the lines of garments worn by tribal peoples in various warm climates, micro bikinis typically possess the following features: • Narrow thong or G-string bottomed bathing suit • Very narrow strips of material that cover only the genitals Fashion observers believe the mini micro originated to combat anti-nudity legislation passed in some states in the 1970s. Initially, the homemade bathing suits were nothing more than leftover pieces of fabric, sewn together with thin twine or fishing line. Inevitably, local shops picked up on the idea and began to make more practical styles using modern materials. These bikinis serve a double purpose. a. They adhere to the barest norms of decency, so you can’t actually throw legislation at the wearer b. They titillate, and how! Rules you must obey Obviously, to flaunt your assets, you need to make sure they look pretty darned good. Here’s where waxing plays such an important role. If you go for Brazilian waxing, you are opting for complete removal of hair from your anus, perineum and vulva, basically, the bikini line. This is the most extreme form of bikini waxing. Not wishing to lay spoilsport, the pain involved with this procedure can be acute and continue for quite some time. However, you may feel that the result is worth the discomfort.
